In the past i always thought that WordPress was just a simple website management system targeted just for personal blogs.
However i was completely wrong. WordPress has impressed me straight from the beginning. After the easy install you start of in your dashboard. The dashboard is configurable and you only see what is important to you, it can be the latest comments, google analytic statictics, a QuickPress. These are just on of many options.
In the QuickPress on the dashboard you have the ability to publish posts or just safe them as drafts yo continue writing later. You can also use the “Press This” bookmarklet, which can be found under Tools in the admin section. Wtih “Press This” you can easily add information from every page you visit in the browser. You can add Tags, Categories, Content and best of all you can publish the post straight away.
Besides easy posting of posts, which is the main feature, obviously, you have the possibility to add themes and plugins. Both can be downloaded from the WordPress download section. You can choose from hundreds of themes and plugins. Themes can be customized after you installed them, straight from the admin section, there is not need for ftp access, localhosts, etc.
Plugins can be installed, activated, checked out, deactivated, deleted from the admin section. This is a great plus and makes it really easy to try things out, without taking up heaps of time. It is possible to create a top notch website, without writing one line of code. For developers this seems disappointing but for the most this is awesome, however developers can eat their heart out by writing their very own plugins for WordPress.
Up till now nothing then compliment for this system. I haven’t found any flaws yet. I will keep you posted if i found any back-draws, bugs or any other issues. I doubt that i will found them, WordPress is a stable, mature content management system with a great community and loads of themes and plugins.
